Still Working Hard!

This week we had 3 more baptisms; Pamela, Emmanuel, and Jorge. They are all relatives of people that I already baptized:)

I still haven’t gone to the dentist but I´ll try when I have the chance!

The Lord’s Hand

After lots of hard work this week, we had the privilege of bringing 13 souls unto Christ! We baptized a mom, Maria Rosa with 6 kids, Gisele, Marlon, Tiago, Lucas, Gislane, and Mateus; 2 neighbor kids, Ana and João (who have parents who are in the prosess of getting married); a young girl, Sarah, who is a friend of a member; Isabel and William, who are friends of my recent convert Edimario; and Luzinede who is engaged to a member.

It was a lot of hard work, but it sure paid off!  We broke 2 mission records! The record for baptisms in one day, which was 11 but now 13, and the record for baptisms in a zone in one day, which was 18 but now 21.

I am definitely seeing the Lord’s hand in the work here. When we do our part, the Lord does His!

I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise.  D&C 82:10

Have a great week!

Praying and Fasting for this Day

This week we had 16 investigators at church. It took 3 packed cars to get everyone there! We are teaching a family of 7 and are hoping to baptize them this next weekend!

Yesterday, we baptized a man named Vicente. It took him more than 2 years to decide to be baptized. His wife and kids have been praying and fasting for this day to arrive! It was a very special baptism meeting.

2 Baptisms and a New Companion

This week we had 2 baptisms. One on Tuesday morning and one on Sunday night. Elder Marcos and I had been teaching a man this whole transfer, but he still hadn´t decided to be baptized. Elder Marcos was going to be transferred on Wednesday, but didn´t want to leave Edimario without being baptized. We went to visit him on Monday night to see what we could do. When we got there, he was already visiting with a family that we reactivated.  We used lots of scriptures to answer Edimario’s questions and take away his doubts. After reading a scripture that touched him, he stood up and said “I´ll be baptized!” Everyone jumped into a huddle and started cheering!  It was a very cool experience in which the spirit testified to him what he needed to do.

Sunday we baptized the mother of a boy that was baptized a few weeks ago. She is a living example of the change that the Gospel makes in our lives. The first time we met her she was super drunk, and even the next few times we visited her. She had been an alcoholic for a long time and hadn´t been able to let it go. She even told us that the doctor said if she stopped, drinking she’d probably die. We set goals with her to stop drinking. Then one day we went back and she was completely sober! She stopped drinking because of the spirit that she could feel with us and the desire she had to be baptized. Until this day, she hasn´t drank anymore! God works miracles in the lives of people that have a desire to change.

My new companion is Elder Medina from Chili. He´s my third Chilean companion!  We moved to a new apartment– it´s super nice!  It has a BBQ pit, soccer court, and a pool! Unfortunately we can´t use the pool:(

Thanks for everything!

Love, Elder Olsen
